ЕстьХочу – I want to eat-a ready-made food delivery aggregator for Moscow with a convenient search for dishes and restaurants.

The project includes a website for choosing and ordering food, a customer account with the ability to track the order, an administrative section for moderators and partner restaurants.

We test existing services for convenience, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and think over the competitive advantages of our project. We are exploring similar projects and applications for food delivery.

Directory structure

A good directory structure does two things:

  • Convenient choice of restaurants and food.
  • Website promotion in search engines.

Collected the semantic core of the site. We developed a directory structure that will help collect more traffic from search engines. A similar strategy has been implemented on the Wi-Fi Space project, thanks to which the project now has hundreds of thousands of visitors a month. Yandex and Google believe that for the query «Thai cuisine» it is more relevant to show a page with Thai dishes rather than a general page with dishes of different cuisines. To do this, the site should have a separate page with Thai cuisine. The page should have meta data and should be optimised for related queries. For example, «Thai cuisine Moscow», «Thai cuisine delivery», etc. These are thousands and tens of thousands of search queries.

UX

We make the project structure and interactive prototype. This helps to work out the main scenarios. At the same time, it was necessary to provide a convenient and familiar interface for viewing the site from large screens.

The next step is that the interfaces get a design look.

Search

An important element is a convenient and quick search for a dish or restaurant. If the catalogue is intended for a leisurely step-by-step selection, then the search makes it possible to place an order faster.

This could be the name of a restaurant (eg «Three Taverns»),

Mobile First

The site adapts to mobile devices. All states of screens and elements are worked out on the design. At the first stage, the creation of the application was not planned, so adaptation is an important factor in the design development.

Control panel - on-board computer

For the success of a food delivery service, both satisfied customers and partners (restaurants) are equally important.
There are not many good restaurants. It is important to provide them with a convenient tool for work and show the benefits of working with an aggregator. The control panel of the partner restaurant was made simple and intuitive.


Created two types of roles with different access levels:

  1. The owner (manager) of the restaurant gets access to financial reporting, order fulfilment statistics, and all functions related to current work: management of bonuses, prices, menus, current orders, etc.

  2. The restaurant staff gets limited access: updating the menu, working with current orders. Access options for staff can be configured by the manager.

Synchronisation ensures timely receipt of notifications and all information about the order.

Order administration

The restaurant quickly finds the right order, receives the necessary information, sends food to the client, monitors the quality of the couriers.

The project was designed for heavy loads. A constant stream of orders, payments, tracking the status of orders, work in the system of restaurant employees — all this requires a high speed of processing large amounts of data at any given time.

We paid attention to data synchronisation and fast data exchange.

Programming

— Synchronisation (operational data exchange) in conditions of large volumes of information and a significant number of users. It required a special approach to the database structure in the server part and the development of algorithms for fast work with large amounts of information, including graphics.

— Alert system for restaurants and customers.

— The possibility of communication between users within the framework of the service to clarify the order, address, and other data.

— User rights and access levels: service owner, service moderators (taking into account the service area), a panel for restaurants with their own roles (manager, staff), and client account.

— Payment for the order: connection of fast payment by card.

— Attracting and increasing user loyalty: a bonus accrual system, promotions from restaurants, integration with social networks.

 

The development was carried out according to the SCRUM methodology. The test engineer participated in the sprint, so the check of the readiness of the functional blocks was done immediately after they were closed.
