Tasks

Create a system for communication between drivers and passengers.

It is easy and convenient for passengers to call a taxi, without calls and dispatchers.
For drivers and taxi services — work with applications and administration of orders.

The project includes a mobile application for passengers for iOS and Android, an application for drivers for iOS, and an administrative panel.

The project is an analogue of Uber, Indriver, Get Taxi, Yandex Taxi.

3 apps and admin panel

Mobile apps iOS and Android for passengers. An iOS mobile application for drivers that helps to receive orders, navigates, calculates the cost of trips, etc.

Administrative web-panel. The whole system is controlled: driver management, work with passengers, creation of statistical reports, internal CRM for settlements between the company and drivers.

Application for the passenger

Everything is done for quick and intuitive ordering of a taxi. The application looks for a taxi that is located near the place where the passenger is waiting for him, calculates the cost of the trip, and helps you choose additional features (child seat or animal transport, for example).

For their own peace of mind and comfort, the passenger can choose a specific driver by rating, see the brand of the car and reviews.

The passenger sees the distance to the driver at a given moment, where the driver is. After the trip, the application will offer to evaluate the driver and contact in case of a problem. Statistics are available for all completed orders and bonus points.

The passenger can build a route through several addresses. For example, first pick up your wife at Jean-Senebier, 2 and be in time for a meeting at Jardin, 9.

Driver Application

The application is a tool for the driver’s work. Therefore, we were guided by three principles: transparency, clarity and control.

To become a service driver, you must be registered and moderated by 7LikesTaxi.

Everything is done for the real needs of drivers:

  • taximeter and map navigation;
  • adding multiple cars;

  • convenient notification of an upcoming order;
  • полная статистика и финансовая отчетность;
  • different statuses: visible, inactive

  • the ability to view full statistics on trips and accumulated points.

The application automatically builds a route on the map depending on the selected addresses. The driver can edit the order of addresses, delete or add new ones, even when the route is already in progress.

The route is clear and detailed: the address, the number of kilometres to the object and the approximate time it will take to travel. Here you can also view comments and additional requirements for the order from the passenger.

Administrative WEB-panel

Orders are executed without a dispatcher, but it was necessary to create a tool for monitoring and managing all processes.

What does the web panel include:

  • Full statistics on clients and drivers. Reports on the done trips, accesses, complaints.
  • Full statistics on the driver, on each stage of the trip, route, mileage.
  • Ability to add new drivers.

  • Moderation of new applications.
  • Invoicing. Ability to work with checks.
  • Passenger support.

Interface design

The work began with interviews with users. How they use existing apps and alternatives like Uber or MyTaxi. As a rule, interviews are Skype calls or communication in the office.

Calling a taxi is always a rush, limited time and, as a result, a weak concentration on the process.

Convenience lies in the possibility of calling a taxi in two taps, but with a detailed indication of the settings (child seat, transportation of pets, bicycles).

If a passenger needs to transport a bike, he will quickly be able to figure out how to do it.

Client

All possible scenarios have been worked out. The interactive prototype is tested with live user interviews.

Driver

In the driver app, one of the tricky parts was editing a route that was already in progress, namely the ability to change an address or add a new one. At the same time, give the opportunity to change the order of the waypoints in case the route changes during the trip.

The driver becomes available for new orders only when he drives up to a distance of 1 km to the end point of the route.

This is done to ensure that the driver can take orders a few minutes before he is free. Without distracting him from the current task, at the same time giving customers the opportunity to order a taxi that will be closer than the others.

Design

After the prototype, we moved on to the design stage. The main condition was to make the application easy and intuitive to navigate through the interface. The user must quickly navigate on any screen and easily perform the action he needs. Particular attention is paid to nativeness. Development for iOS and development for Android have their own characteristics. iOS and Android users are accustomed to their controls and navigation features. It is important to use this to improve the interface.

Client

For drivers, this application is an everyday tool, so we chose a light, minimalist design, without excessive variegation.

Emphasis on the information you need on the road, it should be clearly visible even at a distance while the car is moving.

The main color is orange. All active, clickable elements are made in this color. The neutral white color of the environment further emphasises it, making the design pleasing to the eye.

 

A difficult task was to organise the driver’s card on the client side. It was necessary to properly organise a large amount of data in a fairly small space.

In this case, visual discomfort should not occur, and the card should be understandable to the user during interaction. Having tried a considerable number of options, we came to the most successful.

Mobile development and a list of applied technologies I had to break my head over several tasks:

  • Fast delivery of the order to the user, as we have to give a positive or negative answer in just 30 seconds by connecting the driver with the passenger.

  • A selection of cars within the radius of the user with the necessary parameters that will suit him.

  • To build a route from 10 points and follow the car along this track, a special motion animation was applied..
